Wayne Shortt


With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving dad Wayne Shortt, a resident of Petrolia on Sunday August 1, 2021 at St Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia.  Born in Oil Springs 86 years ago. Son of the late Russell and Beatrice Shortt. Father of Laurie Smith (Bill), Tami Page (Will), and James Shortt (Missy).

Grandfather of Jennifer Edwards (Jay), Julie Smith, Kendra Whitney (James), Nathan Page, Britney Scholte (Kyle). Kameron Turner. Great grandfather of nine. Survived by sisters Eldine Bedell, Joyce Stinson, and Geraldine Caven (Bruce).  Predeceased by sister Verlane Bresett. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friends Sharon and Wendy.

Wayne worked for many years as a truck driver and farmer. He loved his family time sitting around the campfire at his treasured farm. Loved to camp and socialize. Keeping with Wayne’s wishes, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will take place at a later date. Expressions of sympathy appreciated through donations to the St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia.

    I always enjoyed our visits over the years and will miss him at coffee shop .

  2. Many many many years ago I remember riding the purple and white Sunday School bus with Wayne behind the wheel and Wanda as his sidekick. My dad would also bump into Sonny around Petrolia and at local coffee shops and had many conversations.
    Hugs and condolences to Laurie, Tami, James and families. You will have many memories and stories to cherish from camping and around the campfires.

  5. I remember Wayne being at my brother John’s place your dad and mom use to hang with Don and Pork too when they would get the guitars going he was a great guy, we actually ended up having your dad’s white Ford pickup

  8. My deepest sympathy to all of Wayne’s family especially Eldine who I’ve known for quite some time. Wayne was a cheery well liked man by many at the Navy Club where he danced on Sunday nights. He will certainly be missed. Rest in everlasting peace Wayne <3
