Walter Peters

PETERS, Walter Adam, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 90 years of age. Walter was the Husband of the late Marie and later the loving companion of the late Lucille Lumley. Loving father of his daughter, Janice Wieringa (Dale). Devoted grandpa to Adam Wieringa and Ann Marie Bedell (Camiel). Walter retired after a career with Canada Customs where he made many memories and loved to share his interesting stories. He loved spending time with family & friends and enjoyed going for drives to the Dresden Slots. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Village on the Thames who provided compassionate care. In honor of Walter’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial project at Village on the Thames in Walter’s name. Online condolences are welcome at www.lifetransitions.ca

  13. Janice,

    Your Dad couldn’t have had a better daughter, or a family who loved and cared for him more than he did. He was blessed to have you all. I know you’ll miss him greatly, perhaps mostly at dinner on Sundays. I am keeping you and your family close in my thoughts and prayers, and hoping that memories from happier days are carrying you through this difficult time. It’s hard to lose our parents but when they’ve lived a long and happy life we have to be grateful for the time we had together. He has been reunited with those who have gone on before him, and he is at peace.

  17. Janice……….

    I am so sorry to hear of Walt’s passing. We worked together for many years, played a little golf together, went to Myrtle Beach together and just enjoyed each other’s company. I remember when I gave his retirement speech (roast) and the enjoyment he had………at his own expense. I stopped in occasionally when he and Lou were living in Emeryville, and shot the breeze with them. I will always remember him fondly, and I hope that he is at peace.

  18. Janice, Dale, and Family:

    We are one with you in your grief. Walt was so special to us–as neighbor, fellow philosopher, and dear friend. We surely will miss him;
    especially his visits after his move to Chatham. How he valued being so close to you, his daughter, and your loving family; how much he
    treasured the Thursday lunch and Sunday family meal. Our own memories of “back-porch chats”, his deep interest in the lives/careers of
    our children, his love of our pet dog “Misty”, and much more–will always be cherished by all our family.
    We know he is at peace.
