Vera Williamina Purdy

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Vera Williamina Purdy on Wednesday February 12, 2020 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance at 92 years of age. Daughter of the late Henry and Wilhelmina Coupland. Wife of James L. Purdy for over 75 years. Mother of James R. Purdy and Gregory Purdy (Silvia). Grandmother of Jim (Marcia), Richard (Tammy) and Blake. Great grandmother of Melissa (Ryan), Jessica (Eric), Ethan, Dylan, Sierre and Kaleb. Great Great grandmother of Easton. Sister of the late Ethel Little (Dan). Survived by several nieces and nephews. Vera worked as manager of London Winery Shop for 20 years and the Bargain Barn for 17 years. For over 20 years Vera also volunteered at the CKHA information front desk where she assisted many. Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider Animal Rescue. As per Vera’s instructions her family will be remembering her privately.

    I wanted to say I am very sorry to hear about Vera’s passing. I loved Vera always had a smile on her face. My fondest memories was when we took crochet classes together many years ago we had so much fun. RIP. Also want to pass on condolences from my parents John and Olive Olbey they have known Mr. and Mrs. Purdy for many years and have been saddened to hear of her passing. Pam Olbey
