Nicolae Maghetiu “Nic”

With a deep sadness we announce the passing of Nicolae Maghetiu “Nic” on Thursday December 5, 2019 while surrounded by his family at Chatham Kent Hospice. Born in Romania 75 years ago to Cornel and Livia. Nicolae has been the loving husband of Elena for over 53 years. Father of Alina Gherghel and father-in-law of Radu. Proud grandfather of Alex. Uncle of Angelica and Miruna. Survived by brothers in law Cornel and Constantin Enea (with wife Viorica).. Also survived by special family friends Lucian and Zoro Stefanovici-Gheorghe and the Dovancescu family (Monica, Liviu, Jeni, Vasile and Lili). Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Chatham Kent Hospice. Nicolae’s family will be remembering him privately.

  1. Our memories will always be fulfilled with joy and happiness because we were so lucky to have such a great friend around…his love for life, his pride for his family and friends will always be on our heart…you’ll always be remembered Papi!

    So sorry to read of your father’s passing Alina. I remember when they arrived from Romania, how happy you both were, and also were able to be part of Alex’s life. My thoughts are with you both at this very sad time.

    I didn’t get to meet Nic, but I feel I’ve known him! Through you, and our precious friendship I’ve had the blessing to enjoy the kindness of the most amazing father I’ve heard of!
    Your happiness and joy on sharing memories talking about your father, your family, you growing up or just being the loving and caring daughter lady you are now, the role model your father played are so inspirational and motivational!

  5. So very sorry to hear of your loss. Nic was a wonderful man. I knew him from his time doing volunteer drives for CKCS. Rest in Peace Nic. The family is in my prayers.
