Mary Van Dyken

Mary Van Dyken – long time resident of Chatham passed away at the age of 96.  Predeceased by John, her husband of 73 years.  Mary was born in Groningen, the Netherlands and was the daughter of Jantje Immel (Elzinga) and Gerrit Immel.  Both Mary and John loved their adopted country, Canada, and have travelled from coast to coast.  She had 4 children – Al Van Dyken, Jane (Ivan) Katzman, Gary (Bev) Van Dyken and Marsia (Duane – predeceased)
Finnigan.  She was a loving grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 3 (plus one on the way).  Predeceased by grandchildren Meghan and Jon.  She volunteered at Chatham Public General Hospital, loved knitting for the entire family and hosted many family dinners.  Their home was our gathering place.  A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
