Martina Klara DeKievit, passed peacefully at her home while surrounded by family on Saturday April 20, 2019. Daughter of the late Ludwig and Anna Matt. Wife of John for 60 years. Mother of Patricia Sylvain (Maurice) of Dover Centre, Irene Deschenes of Strathroy, Yvonne Jack (Mark) of Blenheim, Ingrid Hakker (Rob) of Chatham and Jennifer DeKievit of Chatham. Oma of Daniel Sylvain, Thomas Sylvain, Denise Deshenes-McKay, Marc Deschenes, Kara Griffiths, Angela Stubitz, Heather Jack, Mitchell Hakker, Owen Hakker and Brianna DeKievit. Sister of Gabriele Hornberger and the late Klaus Matt. Oma Oma of 6 with one on the way. Predeceased by grandson Nolan. Tina was most proud of her family. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, reading, gardening, being outside and spending winter holidays in Daytona and Myrtle Beach with the sun and the ocean. Mom loved sports, game shows on TV, Columbo was a favourite. She was a very caring, loving mother who loved to spend time with family and friends.

    Ich bin die Tochter von Alois Matt aus Pülfringen in Germany. Ich habe von Helga erfahren, dass Martina gestorben ist. Ich möchte euch unsere aufrichtige Anteilnahme mitteilen. Mein Vater und Martinas Cousin Alois ist am 25.1.2019 im Alter von 89 Jahren verstorben. Es ist schwer ein Elternteil zu verlieren. Ich wünsche euch viel Kraft und behaltet deine Frau und eure Mutter in guter Erinnerung.

  22. I’m so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother and wife. I have such fond memories, growing up with her and your family. Your mom always greeted me with such a lovely smile and sparkling eyes, it always gave me a warmth and a feeling of being a bit special. I am truly grateful for having had the time with the DeKievit family in my life. I will remember her when I visit with you all, as she lives on within each of you. She was a truly beautiful mom, oma and friend. It was an honour knowing her.
