Keith Milner

Keith John Milner, of Chatham, passed away on Tuesday July 14, 2020, at home surrounded by family. Loving husband of Shirley Ann Milner (nee Davidson) and beloved father of Carrie Milner (fiance Gary) and Deanna Mondo (Rodney). Proud grandfather of MaKaela, Ashantee, Emma, Abby, Logan, Faith, Ahliyah and Tatum. Brother of Mary Anne Shaw (Tom), Karen Loyer, and (the late) Jim Milner (Carol). Keith will also be missed by his brother-in-law and special friends Jack and Diane Stoffyn, Jean and Leo Mantelli, Lynn and Gary Vince, Bill and Kathy Davidson, Pat and Tim Atkinson. Predeceased by his parents Jim and Violet Milner and his mother and father-in-law Mary and Bill Davidson, and sister and brother-in-law Barb and Ken Houston.

Keith worked at Siemens for 30 years. He was most proud of his family, his wife, daughters and grandchildren, and Tokey was his pride and joy. “Love you to the moon and back.” Time with family, fishing, hunting and spending time at Pine Grove Point were Keith’s favourite pastimes. He enjoyed country western music and crossword puzzles, he always looked out for the underdog, helping people who needed him.

Dad was a foster grandfather to so many! His greatest love was his grandchildren, whom he waited his whole life for. His two girls, Carrie and Deanna (Rodney) were his greatest accomplishments. He loved them to infinity and beyond. His wife Shirley of 55 years was his best friend and confidante. Mom took care of dad right to the end! He was home with his wife Shirley, his daughters Carrie and Deanna, son-in-law Rodney and special nephew (son) Darrin Shaw. Sister in law Diane, Jean, Lynn, and Pat made it possible to keep him home. Thank you to MaKaela and Emma for your special care of grandpa to the end. To Uncle Jack (aka) brother-in-law and Diane, your love, concern and outright compassion for our husband and dad will never go unnoticed, he loved you so much! Darrin Shaw (the son my dad never had) he loved you more that you will ever know! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping dad to transition from this life to the next, best friends Sharon and the late Bob Kornacker and their children Tanya, Larissa (John) Quong and Hoanh Ta, and Denny Bows his best friend and coffee buddy. Thank you to our brother-in-law Tim Atkinson for all of your famous ribs for dad.

Cremation has taken place. Keith’s family will be remembering him privately.

  2. My deepest condolences to Shirley & family. I worked with Keith for 13 years in the warehouse at Teppermans. I always enjoyed working with him listening to stories from Seimens and his adventures to his trailer were he and Shirley would spends their summers. I miss our saturdays mornings coffee at McDonald’ ( he would always ask for my coffee stickers of my cup because he like to collect free coffee cards for Keith and I always looked out for each other and had each other backs!. My wife Janet will really miss his HUGS! He always gave her a hug when he seen her. I am honored i got to have Keith as a close freind and even as a father figure for over 13 years. I know keith is at that perfect fishing spot now. Rest in peace my friend. Happy FISHING!

We remembered Keith as always their to lend a hand to our family while vacationing for the last 30 years at Pine Grove Point. Such wonderful family memories we have with many fish frys, pie iron fires and just good old friendly chit chat and laughs with great friends around the fire. We will always treasure these memories. His family grew up and lived beside ours on St. Patrick St. It was so great to reconnect when I started working at Canadian Fram where we had a lot of laughs sharing our memories.     With a heavy heart I send this message. Keith and Shirley have been like family to us since the late 70’s. As families we had more fun camping at Leisure Lake, swimming in our pool that Keith installed in our backyard All the neighbourhood kids lived in our pool all summer.
    Keith could fix anything every time he came over I had a list. Keith was always living life the way Jesus asked us to. He freely gave to everyone, helped everyone,. You knew you were loved by him from his big hug.
    Like Bob and I, Keith and Shirley lived and gave their all to their children and loved their grandchildren from the bottom of their hearts. Like us the grandkids are our everything , our life.
    My heart breaks for the grandchildren who will will miss his lap and his big hugs .
    It’s not what you gather, but what you scattered that tells what kind of life you have lived.
    Maya Angelou wrote: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This sums up Keith’s life here with us in this life.

  27. Dear Shirley, Deanna , Carrie and family . We are so so sorry . Keith was a great person . He loved to help and helped us so many times when he would see Hugh out doing work , or Shen Hugh was away and I couldn’t start a machine , or back 15 years when we had a guy doing our deck and front porch and Keith was over helping him ! What a guy !! Keith also helped keep this area safe he watched our homes – our own neighbourhood watch !
    We will miss him very much !

I can still remember the early years back in the day on Chestnut Drive when we first met Keith and the family, it was a early encounter of how caring and kind he was; then later on in life his Sister-in law and Brother-in law would move across the road from us and we would again be reintroduced Keith always had a story or a laugh to share with everyone and the girls and Shirley were always top priority …… I’m so sorry for your loss, and would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the entire family at this time

  30. I have read all of the comments and have noted that above all Keith was a well respected and much loved person. I just want to reiterate how glad I am that we were able to have such a great visit with him while he was still able to respond. It was so wonderful to see him converse and laugh with us. You can be assured that he and Jim are together now and enjoying being free of all pain and suffering. I continue to hold you up in prayer as you are going through the mourning period. Just remember, “You will never get over it, but you will learn to live with it.” Love you all.

  31. Hello Shirley I just sat with my tablet for a minute it is late and I coùùld not believe what I saw. I new Keith was not well but was sad to see he had passed away? We enjoyed many great times at Pine Grove, and talk of that many times, many great stories. When Cliff passed away a granddaughter wrote a little story to hin and said he was now fishing at the big hole above and now maybe Keith hass joined him or dropped bý to say hello?   32. Keith I will miss the time we spent on the 401 picking up cars for Sabeti Autos. You had the most amazing stories even if you told them before they were always enjoyable. You were truly a great man and a good husband and father to your family. My condolences to Shirley and your family. It was a nice visit we had before your passing. You will be truly missed. Papa you’re such an amazing man and I’m honored that God put you in my life and that I want to spend every day with you that I could I’m very thankful for every minute I got to spend with you right up until the end you’ve always been my papa and I love and adore you forever I will miss you dearly but I know that you will live on forever in our hearts and that I can always visit you in my dreams I just hope that you’re peaceful wherever you are and I just hope that you’re having fun fishing at this very moment. He will be dearly missed by many but we are at peace with it because we saw that you were suffering and it’s not fair to you so I am happy that you are peaceful And I hope and pray that you watch out for me for the rest of my life. I am looking forward for the day when I get to give you our famous handshake again but until then I will pray that you were doing well wherever you are and that you are at peace .What I want to say to you I can’t because there’s not enough room on this page but I can tell you enough to let you know that you were loved. I feel very special and honored that you trusted your metal with me that you wanted it to go with me because I know how much you love that thing and I promise you I will protect it with my life and I hope that you will protect me over the years. A couple times you almost broke my heart when you told me that you were sending your heart with me and the time you told me that I was the best grandchild ever and although I tried to stay strong for my family But I just couldn’t help but come to tears seeing how you were And I promise you I will take care of granny and my mom as much as I can. We have all been looking for little signs of you That you may have left and we are grateful for each and everyone and I’m grateful that I was lucky enough to have you as my papa.
