    1. I always considered Kathleen like a mother to me… Considering she has watched me grow up since I was only a couple years old and now 32. She always told me how proud she was of me and that myself and my brother will always be “ Her little boys in the canoe and forever her boys” I’m deeply saddened she will not be here for me to send her pictures of my little boy coming in a month and to tell her how happy I am and how well i’m doing, She was an incredible woman and so kind and caring and when she would tell me she loved me… It had the warmth of a mother’s love through and through. I know she is watching over us and myself and hope everyone feels that warmth that I feel when I think about her and see her smile in photos and memories.
I know you are at peace and Pray you always brighten someone’s day when they are down and be that sunshine we all need on a rainy day. I love you Kathleen and miss you. You walk with our creator now and I know he welcomed you with open arms.

  3. I will always smile when I think of Kathy. Being an Army wife wasn’t easy, and I am so thankful that she was a big part of my life during the first few years. She was there for the laughs, the tears, the birth of my daughter, and she was always there as a friend. She had a beautiful soul and a huge heart. Watch over me dear friend, and please don’t hesitate to give me a push when you think I need one. You will be forever loved dear lady. Casey, she loved you so much. My heart breaks for you that she was taken from you too soon. Cherish the memories and let your friends and family support you through this most difficult time. Much love to you my friend.

  9. Katie was always so kind to our whole family!! For a few years, we were all stationed in the same PMQ neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario. Our dogs (Buddy, then Namoosh & Akido, Angus and Fergus) played together. Katie and I walked home together (when we shared the same closing shifts at Value Village), until she got into the Officer’s College working with my mom.

Casey: I’m so sorry!! I’m so glad you have such wonderful friends and family to be your support! I’m sorry I can’t be there for you!

I’ve been thinking of you both for many years now. I feel so fortunate to have met you both, along with your fur-babies! We all had many good times in Toronto thanks to you both!

While seeing me through many tough times as a university student struggling with health issues, Katie was the best ever friend, neighbour and boss!!!

We lost contact when my dad was posted back west, and Casey was getting posted somewhere east. I’m so sorry we lost contact!

I always have Katie in my head providing me with booming confidence!! She somehow managed to shape a frightfully shy nineteen year old girl into an independent woman who discovered her voice. She always lived each day to the fullest; something I strive towards in my own life. Katie has had such a huge influence on my life; I hope she knew what a life force she had and shared with so many.

I’ll forever remember her running out from the store to grab a wandering Akido, who had just jumped out the second floor window in their PMQ, onto the arbor, then onto the ground one hot summer afternoon (my dad had called me at the store to let me know; Katie and I luckily happened to be on the same shift). When she returned, she just laughed. Akido was bored, followed a squirrel, bird or something. He was fine–no injuries; extremely happy to see his mom home early.
