John Pratt

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Pratt, peacefully with family by his side, on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Axminster England, 82 years ago. John is survived by his children Christopher Pratt and Victoria Krouse (Al) and will always be the proud “G’pa” of Violet and Poppy Krouse. For many years John worked at the Wheels Inn where he made many lifelong friends. He both loved and hated golf, but saved most of his sports passion for the Detroit Red Wings. John will be forever missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of the wonderful and caring nurses at CKHA, especially Angie. In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life planned for a future date. 6. I started working with John at the Wheels in banquets in the early 1980s. I remember him bringing me back some English tea after his trip back home. We talked about England a lot since my grandpa was from there. When I moved to the Wheels spa and later my own salon I cut his hair for 18 years until I retired. He would say it was his half hour of verbal bashing. He couldn’t run when cutting his hair so I would non stop talk. We loved to tease one another. He was my golf partner during the company tournaments and I never golfed a day in my life. He was a very good and serious golfer however he always had lots of patience when teaching me. I would say just hand me a club and show me which direction I need the ball to go. He would answer “oh bloody hell”. We had a great time! John was my mentor, my friend, my go to person if I needed to talk at work. He was always so kind. I adored him. I will miss his warm smile and big hugs every time we would run into each other. Victoria and Christopher I am sending my deepest sympathies to you and your family and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
