Herbert Hystek


Herbert Hystek went to be with his Lord and Saviour on September 5, 2021 in his 68th year. He is survived by his wife, Lenny (Schenk) and three sons, Brent (Lynn), Eric (Val), and Nathan (Heidi). Grandpa will be missed by Blake, Kylie, Carter, Will, Jace, Savanna, Paisley, Van and Vyla. Also survived by siblings Patsy, Cory (Cindy), Michael (Lisa), Hank (Vivian) and Edward. Predeceased by parents Cornelius and Ricky Hystek. Herb attended John McGregor High School and went on to enjoy a career in social work with Chatham Community Living. Generous and caring, Herb showed Jesus’ love to all he met. He enjoyed participating in the Chatham Kent Men’s Choir and was active in many church activities at the First Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Operation Smile. Herb will be remembered at a visitation on Friday, September 10th from 7pm to 9pm at Maple City Baptist Church.  No Appointment Needed. Please wear a mask and be socially distanced. His funeral will be held at Maple City Baptist Church on Saturday, September 11th at 11am, with a video livestream of the service available.

  15. I am sorry to hear of Herbs passing. I remember from our days at SS#5 Raleigh. I had the pleasure of enjoying his musical talents when the choir entertained us for Outreach for Hunger. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. My sympathy to patsy

  16. Herb was such a beautiful God filled man. I played piano for the men’s choir a number of years ago and he was always so kind. I am so sorry for your family’s loss. You were blessed to have such a wonderful example of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. May you continue carrying on his faith filled legacy.

I can understand that it may have been hard to video Herb’s songs and his words but it added a very special and touching part to the service and so portrayed his life. The individual stories were a wonderful part as well. A truly God fearing family man he will be missed by all but as you said he is celebrating his birthday with Jesus!!!

  42. Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss. I indirectly worked with Herb his entire carrier with CLC-K. He was an admirable man of high integrity and morals. Everyone like him. I last seen Herb when he worked along side his three sons landscaping our back yard filling in the swimming pool hole. He was in his element joyfully working with his boys. So sorry for you loss.
