Gerry Meyerink

Mr Gerard Donald Meyerink, “Gerry” died peacefully in London Ontario on April 3, 2019 at the age of 59. Gerry is survived by his parents, Donald and Helen Meyerink of Chatham, previously married to Denise Throsel, father to Devon Throsel and Jarred Meyerink, brother to Dan (Janice) Meyerink, Katherine Meyerink, Larry (Janice) Meyerink, Suzanne (Harry) Hoekstra, and Robert (Colette) Meyerink.  Mother/Father in-law Maxine & Larry Throsel, Brother in-law Darryl (Penny) Throsel, Brother in-law David (Terri) Throsel, Sister in law Darlene (Walter) Lactin and Brother in-law Dennis Throsel.  Gerry was born in Chatham Ontario, he graduated from Chatham Kent Secondary School and Fanshawe College with a degree in Engineering. Gerry worked at SLE-CO Plastics Inc. in St Thomas as an Engineer. Gerry was an individual who loved jet skiing, playing and watching hockey,  
being outdoors riding his bicycle and golfing. Gerry always enjoyed watching his boys play sports and end the day with a great home cooked meal. Gerry’s family would like to thank Darlene and Walter Lactin, Larry and Janice Meyerink, Harry and Suzanne Hoekstra and Denise and boys for support during an extended stay in hospital. As per Gerry’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be scheduled later this year.
In lieu of flowers, please send donation to C-K Hospice or Ronald McDonald House. Gerry was a dedicated father and supported all children’s activities, especially hockey and soccer.
Gerry’s famous last words were “One day at a time.”

    Wow what a shock!
    I worked with Gerry when he worked at Canadian Fram/Siemens (his secretary). We also knew him when he lived in Dealtown.
    He was such a nice person always a smile! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time!

  2. I am in shock. I enjoyed working with Gerry for many years at Konal Engineering.
    He was a fun person to be around and a pleasure to work with. My deepest condolences to Gerry’s family which he loved and bragged about all the time. He taught me a lot of things about AutoCad which I use every day. He will be missed by many.

    I’m sure Gerry found comfort in spending his last days with those he cherished.
    I hope the knowledge that he had loved ones who witnessed to him so his fate was sealed in heaven brings some peace.

  4. Sorry for your loss. I also worked with Gerry at Konal. Great sense of humour. Always there to lend a hand. Kept in touch over the years but not enough. Best times with Gerry was at Deer Run. Every home was a new adventure.

  5. Well Gerry sure put up a good fight Throughout the last month and a half while Gerry was in the hospital he never gave up hope and always had a smile on his face. During this time Larry and I got to have some great conversations about the past and the future. We were honoured to be able to pray with Gerry and really listen to his heart ❤️ In the end he just wanted to be loved unconditionally He was so proud of his boys and Denise. There is no doubt in my mind that Gerry is in Heaven with Jesus. Until we meet again. ❤️ Love Larry, Jan, Alex, Max & Paige

  6. I miss my dear friend and colleague. I will always cherish the times I had spent with Gerry. I wish I could have been there for him more. May you rest in peace my friend.
