Flora Cattoor

Peacefully at Riverview Gardens, Chatham, on Friday, June 18, 2021, Flora Maria Cattoor, age 96, of Chatham.   Born in Belgium on June 18, 1925.

Predeceased by parents Medard and Nathalie Jacxsens, brothers Jerome and Raymond Jacxsens, sister Anna Jacxsens and granddaughter TerriAnn Hollis.  Survived by sister-in-law Marie Jacxsens.

Loving mother to Micheline Augustyn, Rick Cattoor (Bev), Judy Smith (Randy Burnett) and David Cattoor (Lori).  Loving Meme to grandchildren Tina Hollis, Jason Hollis, Stacey Patrick (Brad), Arlene Cattoor, Russell Cattoor (Abbi), Christine Cattoor (James), Hudson Cattoor (Danielle) and to great grandchildren Paige, Hayden, Evan, Josh, Emily, Lia and Jack.

Flora was greatly admired for her skills in dress making (bridal), knitting and crocheting.  Gardening and bird watching were some of her outdoor pleasures and on occasion sitting on her front porch with a beer.  She also loved her trips to the cottage every summer in Port Severn, waiting for a good storm to happen over the lake.  One of her other pleasures was watching cooking shows, especially one named “Lidia”.  Over the years she had two four legged friends, Bo-Jo and Vanessa.  Best known at the nursing home as the puzzle lady for all the many puzzles she made with family.

A sincere thank you to staff on 3 east at Riverview Gardens for their care and compassion over the last three years.  Donations to Diabetes Canada or the charity of your choice are appreciated.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Cremation has taken place as per Flora’s wishes.

  19. Dear Micheline, Judy, Rick, David and families,
So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. Oh, what a wonderful neighbour and friend she was. She loved our kids and thoughtfully gave them presents and treats and loving conversations. I would nervously watch her drive her little Honda, and later, the GM Sprint, in and out of the tiny garage, and she never hit scraped the side of the car even once! Flora had a very long life, and though it is difficult to see her gone now, we all know that she is resting in peace.
    Sending you our deepest sympathy,
Tom, Melissa, Shane and Paula Kumagai
