Don Lachance

Don Lachance passed peacefully while surrounded by family on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice at the age of 92. Born in Quebec, Don was the son of the late Rose-Anna Labrecque and Auguste Lachance. Husband of the late Rachel Asselin. Dearly loved father to Jeannine of Chatham, Pierre of Blenheim, Denise of London, Pauline Grant (Dennis)of London, Jeanne Glass (Jonathan)of Belle River, Giselle Grant (Doug)of Chatham. Grandfather of Babette Lachance, Erin Kelly (Matt), Forrest Lachance, Olivia Lachance, Lindsay Grant, Neil Grant, Cody Grant and Kendra Grant and several great grand babies. Survived by siblings Georgette Paquet, Gérard Lachance (Louise Genest). Sister-In-law, Cecile Picard, Veronique Chevalier, Brother-In-Law, Jean-Marie Giguère, Jacques Simard. Predeceased by siblings Marie-Jeanne L’Heureux, Bernadette Giguère, Rachel Simard, Maurice Lachance, Jean-Paul Lachance, Charles Lachance, Wellie Lachance, Aimé Lachance. Don owned Lachance’s Lunch restaurant and marina in Mitchell’s Bay for many years where he also served as Deputy Reeve of Dover Township for eight years. He later returned to Quebec to work as a Land Agent for Trans Canada Pipeline where he retired after twenty-five years. He recently moved back to the Chatham area a year ago. A special “Merci” to Nurse Giselle at Riverview Gardens for the tremendous care and compassion provided during his stay.

Our family would also like to extend a special “thank you” to all the staff at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Words cannot express our gratitude for your kindness and support during our difficult time.

A private memorial gathering will take place later in Quebec. Cherished memories and on line condolences may be left online.

 

Donat Lachance est décédé paisiblement alors qu’il était entouré de famille le samedi, 3 novembre 2018 à l’hospice de Chatham-Kent, à l’âge de 92 ans.

Né à Québec, Donat était le fils de feu madame Rose-Anna Labrecque et de feu-monsieur Auguste Lachance résidente de St-Ferréol-Les-Neiges.  Époux de feu Rachel Asselin. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Jeannine de Chatham, Ontario, Pierre de Blenheim, Ontario, Denise de London, Ontario, Pauline Grant (Dennis) de London, Ontario, Jeanne Glass (Jonathan) de Belle River, Ontario et Giselle Grant (Doug) de Chatham. Ontario. Grand-père de Babette Lachance, Erin Kelly (Matt), Forrest Lachance, Olivia Lachance, Lindsay Grant, Neil Grant, Cody Grant et Kendra Grant et plusieurs arrière-petits bébés.  Il était le frère de Georgette (feu Fernand Paquet): Gérard (Louise Genest), ses belle-soeur Cécile Picard (feu Aimé ), Véronique Chevalier (feu Jean-Paul) , ses beau-frère Jean-Marie Giguère (feu Bernadette), feu Marie-Jeanne (feu Gilbert L’Heureux), feu Rachel ( Jacques Simard), feu Maurice (feu Francoise Mercier), feu Wellie (feu Alice Picard),  feu Charles (Cecile Thétreault).

Donat était propriétaire du Lachance’s Lunch et de la marina au Mitchell’s Bay pendant de nombreuses années, où il a également été sous-préfet du canton de Dover pendant huit ans. Il est ensuite retourné au Québec pour travailler comme agent des terres pour le pipeline Trans Canada, où il a pris sa retraite après 25 ans. Il est récemment retourné dans la région de Chatham, Ontario il y a un an.

Un merci spécial à l’infirmière Giselle à Riverview Gardens pour les soins et la compassion prodigués au cours de son séjour. Notre famille aimerait également remercier tout le personnel de l’hospice de Chatham-Kent. Les mots ne peuvent exprimer notre gratitude pour votre gentillesse et votre soutien pendant notre période difficile. L’inhumation des cendres se fera également à une date ultérieure au cimetière paroissial de Saint-Ferréol les Neiges sous la direction des Services commémoratifs Pierre Dupont. Ecrivez votre message de sympathie ou D’hommage.

  1. My parents mal and germaine mack were long time friends of your parents. I remember many happy times in mitchells bay at the store. Boating and swimming. So sad to hear of his passing. Loved your parents gail mack scott
