Dan Whittington

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dan Whittington on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Chatham 67 years ago. Son of Walter and Ethel Whittington. Husband of Sharyl for 45 years. Father of Justin (Michelle), Megan (Giles) and Travis (Katelyn). Grandfather of Emma, Alex, Sadie, Joseph, Kali, Kamilla and Kamryn. Brother of Tom Whittington. Predeceased by his sister Darlene and brother Ray. Survived by sister-in-law Daphne McClure and brothers-in-law Curtis McClure, Robert Aulis and Grant Aulis. Also survived by father and mother-in-law Robert and Clara Aulis. He also loved his dog Maddy. Dan will always be remembered as a hard working man that provided for his family. Working for Cargill for nearly 40 years, Dan is widely known and well liked by many. A celebration of Dan’s life will be planned at a later date.

  1. We send our condolences Sharyl and will cherish our memories of Dan and all the visit we had with you an Dan in the driveway at Blossom and Valley. So very sad that he has left us but know he will be in a great place because of the wonderful person he was!

  2. We were so very to hear of Dan’s passing. He was such a kind man and Henry has such great memories of him. May God bless his family and hold them in His Loving Arms.

  6. Sharyl and family so sorry to hear of the passing of Danny. I worked with him, laughed with him and had serious conversations with him. He was a hard working kind man and will be missed by many.

  7. What a wonderful man Danny was. I so much enjoyed our evening chats together when I took my dog Reggie for a walk. Dan always pulled out a chair for me on warm evenings so we could put the world to rights in his driveway while Maddy and Reggie joined forces in barking at passing dogs. Blessing to Sharyl and family for the loss of someone really special. I shall miss you Danny

  8. Very sorry to hear about “Cargill Dan” as we knew him by. Steve worked with Dan at Shetland and Glencoe. He was a dedicated and hard worker. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Please let us know when you will have a celebration of life.

  10. Sharyl – we were heartbroken when we heard about Danny. He was my sidekick in Shetland and my saving grace at work. We shared many laughs which kept us both happy in a world of constant change. When he retired Shetland missed him dearly and even last week the customers at the coffee shop were asking how he was doing. This is Danny – loved but never forgotten as we have too many great memories. You are all in our thoughts and prayers

  12. I was deeply saddened to hear of Danny’s passing Sharyl. Danny was truly a hard working man and would do anything to help anyone. I admired his strong work ethic and I learned alot from him. I always appreciated our morning talks over a coffee before the day began. He truly loved and treasured his family. Cheryl and I wish to express our sincere condolences to your family and will keep you in our prayers.

  16. Daniel was a wonderful person he devoted his life to the family set value for people around Newbury He will always be remembered I would like a family to know that he dealt with our company through Cargill for many many years.we share your loss God bless you and your family now and always.
