Claude Henri Martin
September 9, 1959 – March 16, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claude Henri Martin, resting peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Claude was born in Chatham 61 years ago, the youngest son of eleven children to Gaspard and Celina Martin. He was the loving husband and best friend of Karen Marlatt for over 25 years. Karen cherishes many great memories from their yearly island getaways and the simple times spent boating with family and good friends.
Claude was the proud father of Brandon Martin (Tamara) and Ashley Broadwood (Brandyn). He loved nothing more than visiting to catch up on busy lives, family stories and great memories. Being a Pépé brought Claude great joy. He treasured the times spent laughing and playing with his grandchildren. He will always be the loving Pépé of William (Martin), Grayson and Finley (Broadwood).
Those who knew Claude will always remember his love of the summer sun, being out on the water and reeling in a big catch. When at home, Claude could be found in his pristine shop, working on personal projects or those for his business. Anyone was welcome to stop by for a visit or some words of wisdom from Claude. He was a devoted friend and mentor, willing to lend a resourceful hand and share his expertise whenever needed. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and local community.
An open house celebration of life will be held Sunday October 17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club, 25393 St Clair Rd, Chatham.
Donations in honour of Claude can be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
