Chi-Ung “Charlie” Hou

Chi-Ung (Charlie) Hou of Chatham, formerly Dresden and Kitchener Waterloo passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the age of 78. 

Chi-Ung was married to his beloved wife Yea-Ok (Wendy) for 53 years. He was the proud father of Jae Hou (Lisa) and Yun Bowerbank (Andrew). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Taylor, Jen and Alexa.  He is survived by his brother Yong Soo,  nephews Yung Suk and Yung Jin and nieces Yung Ha and Yuni. He is predeceased by his parents and sister-in-law Mak Soon Hou.

As a successful entrepreneur, Chi-Ung believed in hard work and determination. He provided and sacrificed for his family. An intelligent man, Chi-Ung read often and was very knowledgeable about many different things. He had a knack for fixing things, loved his wife’s cooking, and had a unique sense of humour. His hobbies included fishing, wood working, gardening and he loved watching soccer. 

Chi-Ung’s family will hold a private ceremony on Friday, November 22, 2019. Online condolences may be left at  www.LifeTransitions.ca.

  1. This is a beautiful tribute to a great man who clearly loved his family and wanted the best for them! He passed surrounded by love—how touching. I have been praying for all. May you find peace in the memories you are sharing with each other.

  14. Glenn and I were very sorry to hear about Chi-zing (Charlie). His life was too short but we are sure he will be in the families heart and memories forever.
