Barbara Cousineau

Barb Cousineau (nee Wilson) passed away peacefully at the Chatham Kent Hospice on Saturday February 25, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer for the past year and a half. Surrounded by her angels and comforting her by her side was her best friend and beloved husband of 42 years Jim, and Barb’s sister Deb, whose loving dedication throughout her last days will always be remembered.

Barb will be missed dearly by her adoring husband Jim, sister Deb Kelly (Bruce) and brother in law Vern Cousineau and his wife Jet, nieces and nephews Liz, Glen, Jeremiah and Juniper as well as her great nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by many good friends that she and Jim made throughout the years as well as several clients and co-workers she had during her years as a devoted hairdresser.

Barb was predeceased by her loving mother Corrine Hammond (2005).

Barb was a successful, award winning hairdresser in Chatham for several years until her diagnosis in 2015. An avid gardener, she loved working around her yard enjoying the beauty of nature. She was a wonderful friend to many and found great joy in entertaining. She welcomed you with open arms and a warm smile that would brighten your day. Her passion for music brought such joy to her and those around her. She often shared this feeling with friends as she danced at the Moose Lodge where she was a faithful member for over 25 years.

Thank you to Dr. Heather Milkovic, Nurses Rita and Sherry from CCAC, and the PIC team for your kindness, care and compassion during this trying time. A special thank you to friends Bob and Ricki Higgins and Mark and Peg Campbell for all of your love and support. To those friends who sent cards, left messages and delivered delicious meals and treats, and for all of your thoughts and prayers we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A sincere and special thank you to the entire staff of Chatham Kent Hospice for your impeccable care, support, love and kindness during Barb’s stay at our most difficult time.

In keeping with Barb’s wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Barb’s life to be held at the Moose Lodge in Chatham, Saturday March 11, 2017. The ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Chatham Kent Hospice if desired.

Words cannot express the deep sadness felt at this time. Barb was an exceptional human being in both her professional and private life. She made us feel great after each appointment, no matter our state of mind and heart when entering her realm. For that is truly what it was…and she the Queen that reigned over it.
God bless you Barb… will be forever missed.
