Allan “Al” Alward

 

Allan “Al” Ivan Alward passed away peacefully at the age of 61 in his home, surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday June 15, 2021. He will be dearly missed by his wife Sandie (nee Vaile). Al was the proud father of Ryan Odette (Brie), Kayla Thibault (JP) and Gary George. His granddaughter Sienna Thibault could always make Al smile and his fur baby Mac was a faithful companion.

Born in Chatham in 1959 to Ivan and Betty Alward (nee Raine), Al is survived by brothers Roy (Lisa) and Blake (Chantalle), sister Bonnie Carpenter (Jim) and is predeceased by sisters Beverly Jacques (Russ) and Barbara Rylett (Wayne). He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Al grew up loving sports and was a star player on the Chatham Diamonds baseball team. A dedicated fan of all sports, he continued to watch and cheer for his favourite teams and wrestlers. Other favourite past times included playing records, trips to Niagara Falls and watching Sunday night movies with Sandie. Al also enjoyed frequenting the Legion and was a proud member and past president of Legion 642 in Chatham.

The family will remember Al with a celebration of his life after cremation has taken place.

  15. So sorry for your loss. I was able to see Al when he was walking on Mc Naughton at first I didn’t know it was him til after I passed him. At least he did not give up but know he is free pain.

It was great hearing his voice. Dave has many fond memories of Uncle Al playing baseball with his Dad, Bill.
